Section 23 of Law 11720 on Special Wastes, enacted in the Province of Buenos Aires, establishes that used lead-acid batteries are considered “special waste”. Each person who generates this type of waste as a result of his activities shall be considered a "special waste generator" and should register as such.
Section 25 of the above-mentioned law, regulated by decree 806/97, states that special waste generators cannot store used lead-acid batteries in their own facilities for a period of longer than one (1) year, except when they have a special authorization and duly technical and economic justification, indicating time, place and form of treatment.
