Lead Shielding
Lead is used in all structures that require a shielding effect to protect against gamma and X-rays (doors, walls, and ceilings). This is one of the applications in wich lead achieves the best value for money.
To be taken into account:
- Energy: power emission of X-ray unit.
- Workload: how many exposures to radiation are produced per week, month or year?
- Orientation: direction of the main objective of the radioactive beam, and the scattering of the X-ray unit.
- Distance between the screen and the source of radiation.
- Occupation of adjoining rooms
- Other materials used in the construction of the room.
