Red lead for batteries is chemically a compound of litharge (PbO) and red lead (Pb304). It is mainly used by industry in the manufacture of battery plates. This material is used to coat flat plates, together with Green Powder in different proportions for lead acid batteries, the purpose is to improve their initial charge capacity. Made from litharge calcined in special furnaces with oxidizing atmosphere and temperatures electronically controlled to ensure the homogeneous manufacture of the product.
